Blackburn Brothers are a family band rooted in Black Canadian history, Caribbean ancestry, and the shared language of blues, soul, funk, and rhythm and blues. Led by brothers Duane Blackburn, Brooke Blackburn, and Cory Blackburn, their sound is shaped by deep groove, family memory, and generations of lived experience.
Descended from freedom seekers who came north through the Underground Railroad and settled in Southern Ontario, and connected to Montserrat through their grandfather Austin Blackburn, Blackburn Brothers bring a distinct Canadian voice to the blues. They are also the sons of Bobby Dean Blackburn, a pioneering Toronto R&B performer whose influence on the city’s music scene spans more than six decades.

The Blues that the JUNO Awards nominated Blackburn Brothers create is part of their inheritance. The newly released SoulFunkn'BLUES album is a tribute to all the trailblazers and all of the ancestors and forgotten tribes who taught the Blackburn Brothers the importance of History, Blues, Soul, Groove, Rhythm, Family, Freedom, Black Unity and Love.
The Blackburn Brothers live on stage during a 2023 Quebec Tour. Bringing down the SoulFunknBlues Live in Concert.
